ViKing Law Secures Victory in Auto Repair Fraud Case Against Local Dealership
In April, 2025, ViKing Law successfully represented a client in a mechanic fraud case against a well-known local auto dealership. The case stemmed from what should have been a routine service visit: the client brought in their 2013 Jeep Wrangler for a single missing part, an issue that should have cost approximately $400–$500 with parts and labor.
Instead of addressing the problem directly, the dealership caused further damage to the vehicle, rendering it inoperable. The dealership then claimed repairs would cost $3,500—over seven times the original estimate. The client refused the inflated charges and had the Jeep towed to Monro Auto Service and Tire Centers Auto Repair, Maintenance & Tires – Monro Oil Change Service Centers, a trusted shop that had previously worked on the vehicle.
Monro’s mechanics not only properly repaired the Jeep but had also documented their work with before-and-after photos and adhered to all required procedures under Pennsylvania repair shop regulations. In contrast, the dealership failed to obtain written authorization for the repairs, a clear violation of state law.
With this critical evidence in hand, ViKing Law proved in court that the dealership had committed fraud. The client was awarded full reimbursement for the proper repair costs, along with attorney’s fees and legal expenses.
Virginia King, Esq., founder of ViKing Law, stated:
“I’m proud the Court recognized the deceptive conduct of the dealership and protected my client’s rights. Unfortunately, these kinds of fraudulent practices are more common than many people realize. Thankfully, our client went to a reputable repair shop and obtained the documentation we needed to uncover the truth.”
