ViKing Law Secures Victory in Auto Repair Fraud Case Against Local Dealership
In April 2025, ViKing Law successfully represented a client in a mechanic fraud case against a well-known local auto dealership. It started as what should have been a routine service visit: the client brought in a 2013 Jeep Wrangler for a single missing part, a repair that should have cost roughly $400 to $500 with parts and labor.
A routine repair that became a $3,500 bill
Instead of addressing the problem directly, the dealership caused further damage to the vehicle and left it inoperable. It then claimed repairs would cost $3,500, more than seven times the original estimate. The client refused the inflated charges and had the Jeep towed to a trusted repair shop that had worked on the vehicle before.
That shop properly repaired the Jeep, documented its work with before and after photos, and followed the procedures Pennsylvania requires of repair shops. The dealership, by contrast, never obtained written authorization for the repairs it claimed, a clear violation of state law.
The result
With that evidence in hand, ViKing Law proved in court that the dealership had committed fraud. The client was awarded full reimbursement for the proper repair costs, along with attorney's fees and legal expenses.
"I'm proud the Court recognized the deceptive conduct of the dealership and protected my client's rights. Unfortunately, these kinds of fraudulent practices are more common than many people realize. Thankfully, our client went to a reputable repair shop and obtained the documentation we needed to uncover the truth." Virginia King, Esq.
